Navy Women on Subs

The Navy is taking a big leap this year by finally allowing Females to join the submarine force. There are a few NAVADMINS are out right now that can help you find out if you qualify to join the submarine force.

NAVADMIN 019/15 opens sub duty opportunity to all females E1 to E8.  It lists all qualifying ratings and opens conversion request to all  females in any rating from E-1 to E-8 to a qualifyed rating.  All selected females will attend the required “A” school and go to sub school. 

Below is all the information you will need to apply to join the submarine force.
 
 
To Qualify
If you want to join the submarine force  you must have;
-COs endorsement
-Sea service experience and warfare qualifications
-Job experience that relates to the future sub assignment
You may have to convert rating to a qualified rating. the full list of ratings that qualify are here
 
Qualified Ratings Per NAVADMIN 019/15
E7-E8
IT, YN, LS and HM (IDC).
 
E6 and below females already having a rating
STS, FT, MMW, MT, ITS, ET-NAV, ET-COM, LS, YN, CS, MMA.
 
All new and undesignated female sailors
STS, FT, MMW, MT, ITS, ET-NAV, ET-COM, LS, YN, CS, MMA, EMN, MMN, ETN and MMN-ELT.
  
To convert
-You must be medically screened and suitable for duty aboard a submarine.
-Be a US citizen able to receive a secret security clearance.
-Meet ASVAB requirements for the desired rating.
-Have No NJP’s or convictions in civilian or military courts for the past 36 months.
-Have at least a 3.0 or higher for the last five Evals.
-And no PFA failures in the last three years.
(Some ratings have such as ITS have NEC requirements. More information on conversion can be found in NAVADMIN 021/15 for E6 and below and NAVADMIN 020/15 for CPO’s.)  
 
This is a big opportunity for females to open opportunities and change the face of the Navy.  Some may be opposed to the idea but I think it shows progress.  How do you feel about females being on subs?  Please tell me in the comments bellow.
